Red Lentil Chili (Instant Pot)
Santa left an Instant Pot® beneath our tree. Since I’m considerably skittish of the entire strain cooker factor, the CompostMaster and I oriented ourselves to the brand new kitchen equipment as an journey in togetherness. So what did we make first? Vegan Red Lentil Chili.
About the Instant Pot
I’ve seen mates rave about their Instant Pots on-line, however by no means understood the rationale for the fuss. My sluggish cooker works simply high-quality for me. My mother (and her mother) used a strain cooker loads once I was rising up, which made sense as a result of the primary Crock Pot® had but to burst onto the scene.
But Santa caught a Black Friday sale and the Instant Pot DUO Plus 6 Qt 9-in-1 Multi- Use Programmable Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Yogurt Maker, Egg Cooker, Sauté, Steamer, Warmer, and Sterilizer was mine a month later. (Note that’s an affiliate hyperlink.)
First up: Red Lentil Chili
Our diets sorely lacked fiber over the vacations and the climate has been frigid recently by Virginia requirements. So I flipped by the recipe booklet included with the pot and determined the pink lentil chili appeared excellent for a post-Christmas meal.
When we noticed the 10-minute prepare dinner time, we thought we’d be consuming 15 minutes after we obtained every part into the pot. We didn’t issue within the 40 minute warmup and the 30 minute pure strain launch time. I like to recommend you begin this recipe at the very least an hour earlier than you need to eat.
I’ve heard of placing chocolate and cinnamon in chili, however I’d by no means thought so as to add dates. They gave simply the correct quantity of sweetness to offset the spice.
I’m trying ahead to experimenting extra with the Instant Pot within the new yr.
